There are two surgeries in Bedford offering Extended Access (6.30-8.30pm weekdays and morning-lunchtime on weekends) – London Road Health Centre and Riverfield Drive.

In September, across the two surgeries, there were 1479 available appointments, of which 1118 were booked (although there were 200 appointments made but not kept – possibly as patients went to their own surgeries) which meant they had a utilisation rate of 62%.

In October, again across the two surgeries, there were 1329 available appointments, of which 982 were booked (184 were booked and not kept), with a utilisation rate of 60%.

This is a great additional service to help cope with the demands on the health service.
